BASEC Virtual Learning Spaces

BASEC is providing both interactive activities and virtual classes for our community during school closure. By participating, your child can connect with peers, share projects, and learn in virtual classrooms with BASEC teachers.

To participate in our virtual classes, please follow these steps:

STEP 1: Read Direct Notice to Parents for Online Services and Privacy Policy

STEP 2: Share BASEC's Virtual Classroom Code of Conduct with your Child

STEP 3: Sign and Return Parent Consent Form

Any interactive participation from your student (live classes, tutoring, Flipgrid submissions, office hour calls with teachers, etc.) requires a Parent Consent Form. Please submit one form per student.

  1. Download the form

  2. Complete fields and sign (physical signature required)

  3. Take a picture of your completed form or scan it

  4. Email the form back to us at info@belmontbasec.org

STEP 4: Sign Up for Programming

Please visit our workshop listing for descriptions and registration information.

After your registration is confirmed, you will receive an email with a Zoom meeting link specific to your registration. Please do not share this link with anyone else. The link can be used for all dates of the class you register for.

STEP 5: Get Zoom

Use Zoom to participate in live BASEC online classes

Zoom is a video communications platform that runs on computers and mobile devices.

BASEC teachers use Zoom to run virtual classrooms. Once you sign up for live classes (see Step 2), you’ll want to make sure you’re ready to attend via Zoom meeting.

You can access Zoom meetings without an account. We recommend accessing via desktop unless otherwise directed in the event invite; many teachers will be playing videos and sharing other visual content.

Before an event

  1. (Optional) Practice using Zoom with your student. You can join a test meeting to familiarize yourself. If it’s your first time using Zoom, it’s a good idea to check your camera and microphone settings and make sure Zoom runs smoothly on your device.

  2. If you plan on using Zoom from a mobile device or tablet/iPad, download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Joining an event

  1. You will receive an event invite from BASEC with a Zoom meeting link

  2. [If joining from desktop] Once you click on the link for the meeting, Zoom will ask you if you would like to download the Zoom application or join the meeting using your web browser.

Click on “Download and Run Zoom” and follow the prompts on your computer to install and run the app:

The Zoom app will automatically download to your computer and open Zoom.

3. Enter your student’s full name and click join.

STEP 6: Start Online Learning!

Click the Zoom meeting link you received in you email when it is time to join class. Teachers will let you in from the waiting room at the class start time.
